And everyone’s invited – whether you’re a regular customer, an occasional browser or a local yet to visit us! Whatever the case, why not call in?
We’ll also be releasing some exclusive in-store only discounts and other promotions to celebrate, so it’s definitely worth stopping by. Learn more about the garden project below…
About our new Four Seasons Feature Garden
Designed by Oxford-based garden specialist Emma Bernard, our new Four Season Feature Garden now lies at the heart of the store. The aim was to create a relaxing, inspirational space that would enhance the visitor experience at Oxford Garden Centre. All while promoting the best of local and British sourced materials. And we couldn’t be happier with the results!
Beginning in March 2023, 100 tonnes of earth were removed to make way for new landscaped pathways. These were then offset by paved areas, outdoors seating, lattice fencing and stunning garden beds filled with plants to ensure a year-round spread of colour and foliage. Additionally, multiple decorative features have been built and installed for added interest.
What’s more, all of this was achieved primarily by just three members of staff from our Oxford Garden Centre and sister company AWBS’s teams! With that in mind, we’d like to thank project leader Brian Proffit (AWBS Contract Manager), Warwick Vardy (AWBS Contracts Team) and Jacky Gardener (OGC’s Horticultural Manager) for their efforts over the last year.
Designer Emma Bernard states: “The team have done an amazing job taking the project from concept to the finished garden. They have achieved exactly what they wanted, and I’m thrilled with the results. I particularly like the water feature, and that the garden feels large and spacious. […] The layout and features create lots of interesting views from every angle.”
What can you hope to see during your visit?
Utilising a grid design built around a central water feature, the garden covers 235 sq. metres, with each quarter representing a specific season. Starting from the Autumn section with handmade arch for climbing plants, you’ll progress through to the Winter zone. Here you can pause at our unique Gabion cage seating area featuring cool white pebbles and woven hazel screens. And take a look at the top of the garden’s main attraction – the rockery water feature.
Moving into Spring, a beautiful folly featuring Brian Proffit’s restored doorway takes centre stage. Closely followed by the curved Cotswold stone seating area backed by plants and blue slate chippings. But the final Summer section is undoubtedly the star of the show. Here you’ll find another rest stop complete with giant sundial. Plus a striking thatched wooden gazebo with bench, offering full-length views of the water feature from top to bottom. It’s the perfect place to contemplate what elements you might like to incorporate into your own garden!
Visitors at our opening weekend can also look forward to unmissable deals on pots, plants, BBQs, garden furniture and more. Plus a special reward reserved for loyalty card holders.
And while we’re keeping the precise details under wraps for now, we will reveal each offer on our website and social media pages the evening before they go live. So check back regularly to avoid missing out!
And remember, these promotions will be available in-branch only from 21st-24th June. As such, you will need to visit Oxford Garden Centre in person to take advantage of them.
We look forward to welcoming you!
